Part of Western civilization that you are part of. He went to where no man had gone before. He is the historical equivalent of Captain Kirk. We should all be grateful that Christopher Columbus decided to be an explorer not a teacher who complained about historical figures back in the 900s. That is the perspective you should keep. Your teacher is complaining about historical events and figures that are 500 years old. S/he is trying to judge these events and figures through the prism of a nonsensical ideology.

Ask yourselves, what would have had happened if there were not courageous people like Christopher Columbus? Number one thing is you and your teacher would not exist Today. Ask your teacher if she doesn't like her existence? Really kids, the history of the world, the history of the mankind is the history of the competition between civilizations, explorations and conquests. So far the Western Civilization that you are part of is ahead. What does your teacher have against our civilization? Would she rather be on the losing side?

The attack on Christopher Columbus and his legacy is an attack on the Western Civilization. Notice that the same people who rip our civilization every chance they get, have nothing bad to say about the competing ones like islam and communism. Ask your teacher how many people islam killed by sword or by bringing new diseases in the days when it was conquering Europe and why does she not condemn it? Why does she want to celebrate the modern day invasion of islam as diversity and multiculturalism while it is clear that the islam wants to destroy our civilization?

Kids, be proud of your history, your culture and your civilization.

Some cultures are better than others: a free society is better than slavery; reason is better than brute force as a way to deal with other men; productivity is better than stagnation. In fact, Western civilization stands for man at his best. It stands for the values that make human life possible: reason, science, self-reliance, individualism, ambition, productive achievement. The values of Western civilization are values for all men; they cut across gender, ethnicity, and geography. We should honor Western civilization not for the ethnocentric reason that some of us happen to have European ancestors but because it is the objectively superior culture.

This paragraph above will probably make your teacher gag but hey, it is the truth.

There are a lot of misguided people like your teacher who actually want to celebrate the losing sides in the history of the world. Do you want to be losers? When you hear people like your teacher criticize your history, your culture, your civilization; ask them what alternative they are rooting for?

These men and women who are risking their lives each and everyday are not whining while you are ignoring their request for help. I just can't believe how American people voted for you. No, no... I am not going to talk about his speech although it is part of it. The real question is why the President of The United States is so clueless. I mean this was a diplomatic mission. Liberal democRATs always tell us how good they are in diplomacy and how they will solve the world's problems by diplomacy without costly wars. Here our "brilliant" president is tested on a very simple diplomatic mission and failed miserably. Folks, Chicago got the lowest vote and eliminated in the first round. Now, that is humiliating when you have the POTUS and the FLOTUS making personal appeals.

As their propagandists in the media, the POTUS and his delegation were shocked and stunned by the result. It is just another indication that these people are clueless.

Even their excuses do not make sense:

"Obviously, it was disappointing, we wanted Chicago to get this," the president's senior political advisor David Axelrod told CNN.

"I don't view this as a repudiation of the president or the first lady; there are politics everywhere and there are politics inside that room."

Axelrod suggested that Obama's effort had fallen prey to internal Olympic movement politics.

"I am not suggesting anything nefarious, there is a process here, intensive lobbying that goes on for months and months and months."

Then why weren't you guys better prepared Mr. Axelrod? Why did you make a fool out of the POTUS?

Really folks, why weren't they more effective in their lobbying?

Now this was a fairly small diplomatic failure. but Obama thinks the same way when he is dealing with Iran, North Korea and the rest of the world. His narcissism in dealing with the IOC cost Chicago the olympics. His narcissism in dealing with Iran may cost us lives in the future.

This empty suit, who declared the war in Iraq as a lost cause while demanding that we should focus all our energy and effort on Afghanistan, has not had a conversation with the General in charge for over two month. He wanted to suppress the additional troop requests necessary to win the war. Heck!, he won't even use the terms "winning" or "victory" when it comes to fighting the terrorists who want to use weapons of mass destruction to kill as many as Americans. Instead of helping us win the war he chose to lobby International Olympic Committee to bring Olympics to his city where his cronies can get rich. I am sure he will celebrate his "winning" and "victory" if he succeeds in getting Chicago picked as the next Olympic City.

We have a weak and naive president who is comfortable being a celebrity making speeches and headlining TV shows. When it comes to real world, Obama votes "present".

Not so -- but the discussion opens up some valid comparisons to health care.

Comp/collision is mandated by the owner of your vehicle, likely a bank or leasing company. When you drive your 65 thousand dollar BMW off the lot after putting down your "first and last payment" of about 2 grand, someone else is on the hook for the other 63 K.

And that someone - bank or leasing company -- is who demands that you protect their collateral. This is not a government mandate. It is part of your lease or loan agreement with the bank which is simply a contract made in what we used to call the "free enterprise system."
