Big Business Loves Big Government

July 3rd, 2009

Everywhere we look we see the great and once-great beneficiaries of free markets running to the state for protection from the cruel bullying of competition. On health care, insurance companies and others repeat the mantra that they want to be “at the table rather than on the menu,” all the better to be positioned as a tax collector of the welfare state. General Motors and Chrysler have gone from being pimped-out prostitutes of the state to outright chattel more akin to the leather-bound gimp in Pulp Fiction, eager to do the bidding of the president and the UAW.

Once-proud companies like GE have become seduced by global-warming schemes because they recognize that there’s more money to be made selling white elephants to Uncle Sam than there is selling competitive products consumers want. Indeed, cap-and-trade taxes promise to deliver precisely the protectionist industrial policies the Left has dreamed of for decades, only under a “progressive” label.

Et Tu, Big Business? By Jonah Goldberg - NRO

Can you blame the big business?

Who is corrupting them?

It is the Big Government!

Look how well Chrysler and GM fared under government sponsored bankruptcy...

Look at the big businesses salivating over the possibilities of raking in millions if not billions when this so-called cap-and-trade crap becomes a law.

It is much easier to collect government giveaways than competing in a free market.

Jonah Goldberg defines what is happening as American businesses "selling their soul" and their betrayal of "free markets". He is absolutely right but these businesses who sold their souls are no longer the "American Businesses" that survive and thrive in a competitive free market by inventing and innovating. They became government owned corporations. They are turning into bureaucratic organizations that are doomed to fail but the government will keep them running with tax-payer money. Government and these corporations will feed off of each other. Think of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac folks. Think of all the people who ran them to ground. Who were they? Cllinton cronies of course... How did they fare personally while they ruined these organizations? They are all multi-millionaires. Anyone asking them any questions? Heck no! They are well connected and protected. They used tax-payer money well by giving it as campaign donations to the politicians who in turn protected them. What do you think will happen when Government Motors can't compete even after devouring billions of dollars of tax-payer money and stiffing its creditors thanks to a government arranged bankruptcy? It will ask its owner the government to limit competition. You don't believe me... Bookmark this page so you can come back to read it again when you hear within a few years your elected representatives are voting on another bill they did not bother to read that contains things that will make Honda, Toyota and other foreign car companies' operations in the USA costlier and more difficult.

The point is that these big businesses that "sell their souls" to the big government of president Hussein and liberal democRATs are already self-destroyed. They are no longer capitalist enterprises. They are doomed to fail in a free market. They are part of the government. They are owned by the government. And the government that owns them willingly abandoned the principles this country founded upon. We can no longer call the government that is run by Obama and liberal democRATs "American Government". They just turned this country into a marxist regime that is doomed to fail eventually. I hope it does not take decades.

"Let the American youth never forget that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, of property, of religion, and of independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beatiful, as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; and its defences are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour, by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

Is This America?

March 16th, 2009

“Is this America -- when you do what your government asks you to do and then retroactively you also have additional conditions?” Kovacevich said. “If we were not forced to take the TARP money, we would have been able to raise private capital at that time” and not needed to cut the dividend to preserve cash, he said.

Wells Fargo Assails TARP, Calls Stress Test ‘Asinine’ - Bloomberg.com

"Is this America?"

We have been asking this question since the un-American Hussein became The POTUS and started his agenda of "transforming" this country.

Is this America where congressmen and senators harass private companies and their CEOs for their use of private jets?

Is this America where the president and his party target talk show hosts and plot ways to shut them up?

Is this America where the presidents disses our long term allies and works to make nice with corrupt, vicious tyrannies that want us dead?

Is this America where secretary of state tells countries who abuse their citizens' rights that "there is room for improvement? Yes Egyptians use something smoother than a broomstick to sodomize your political prisoners and this country will consider that "improvement".

Is this America where hard working Americans dream big are made fun of and investigated by the government while lazy ass welfare queens who game the system are rewarded when they cry in a political rally?

Is this America where the President and his political party ram their radical agenda through congress without allowing debate?

Is this America where media accepts voluntarily its role as being the lapdog of the administration? Is this America where media acts as the propaganda arm of one political party?

I can go on an on... You are welcome to add your own.

Is this America you want? Is this America you can get used to?

Don’t Believe Barney Frank and Chris Dodd

March 8th, 2009

Meltdown

Ron Paul (Foreword). Regnery Press 2009, Hardcover, 194 pages, $14.98

And most importantly: Do not believe anything Obama says.

From the Inside Flap
Is Capitalism the Culprit?
The media tells us that "deregulation" and "unfettered free markets" have wrecked our economy and will continue to make things worse without a heavy dose of federal regulation. But the real blame lies elsewhere. In Meltdown, bestselling author Thomas E. Woods Jr. unearths the real causes behind the collapse of housing values and the stock market--and it turns out the culprits reside more in Washington than on Wall Street.

And the trillions of dollars in federal bailouts? Our politicians' ham-handed attempts to fix the problems they themselves created will only make things much worse.
Woods, a senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute and winner of the 2006 Templeton Enterprise Award, busts the media myths and government spin. He explains how government intervention in the economy--from the Democratic hobby horse called Fannie Mae to affirmative action programs like the Community Redevelopment Act--actually caused the housing bubble.

Most important, Woods, author of the New York Times bestseller The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History, traces this most recent boom-and-bust--and all such booms and busts of the past century--back to one of the most revered government institutions of all: the Federal Reserve System, which allows busy-body bureaucrats and ambitious politicians to pull the strings of our financial sector and manipulate the value of the very money we use.

Meltdown also provides a timely history lesson to counter the current clamor for a new New Deal. The Great Depression, Woods demonstrates, was only as deep and as long as it was because of the government interventions by Herbert Hoover (no free-market capitalist, despite what your high school history teacher may have taught you) and Franklin D. Roosevelt (no savior of the American economy, in spite of what the mainstream media says). If you want to understand what caused the financial meltdown--and why none of the big-government solutions being tried today will work--Meltdown explains it all.

Fear-monger in Chief

February 4th, 2009

"A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future," he said. "That's why I feel such a sense of urgency about the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Plan."

Obama: Catastrophe coming if Congress doesn't act

Folks, liberal democRATs in this country still complain about "rushing to war" in Iraq although the nationwide debate took over a year before the first troops went into war. Same liberal democRATs and phony media types accused Bush administration with "fear-mongering" when they were trying to protect American citizens from terror attacks.

Now we have a President who is planning on writing love letters to Iran's AhmediJackOff, who is planning on freeing terrorists in Guantanamo so they can re-join the jihad against America. Now we have a president who wants to spend almost a trillion dollars we do not have to reward the political groups who helped him get elected. He does not want any debate. He wants to rush this so-called stimulus bill of his through Congress. He is using fear of economic catastrophe to do that and nobody seems to care.

Kudos to Republicans in the House. I hope the Republican Senators do not vote for this bill. Obama can own the catastrophe he is creating. Remember folks this whole thing started with liberal democRATs' manipulation of market with one of their stupid bills that had "reinvestment" in its title: Community Reinvestment Act.

Now these same Jack-Asses coming up with more nonsense like this:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday imposed $500,000 caps on senior executive pay for the most distressed financial institutions receiving federal bailout money, saying Americans are upset with "executives being rewarded for failure."

Obama caps executive pay tied to bailout money

Why even pretend with this bailout BS? Just do what Maxine Waters and other communists want to do: Nationalize the damn corporations that are asking for money. Make the executives and all the employees of these corporations federal employees. Look at the bright side Obama: That would create a much bigger spoils system for you. Hey, your appointees will not even need to go through that stupid senate confirmation process. You can appoint your buddy Daschle to run GM so he can keep his car with a driver and he won't even need to pay taxes on it. I am sure you will have plenty of liberal democRAT looters who will line up to run Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank and all the other corporations that will be turned into federal bureaucracies. Go Obama! nationalize the damn American private enterprise. Go Obama!

What is the Real News About Stimulus Bill?

January 30th, 2009

The real news about the stimulus bill is not that not one Republican voted for it -- Bravo House Republicans! -- as the phony media has been stressing upon, but 11 Democrats voted against it. Yes folks, you may have not heard this from your phony media outlet but 11 Democrats in the House voted "NO" to the Messiah's pork-barrel spending bill. Here they are:

Allan Boyd (D-FL)
Bobby Bright (D-AL)
Jim Cooper (D-TN)
Brad Ellsworth (D-IN)
Parker Griffith (D-AL)
Paul Kanjorski (D-PA)
Frank Kratovil (D-MD)
Walt Minnick (D-ID)
Collin Peterson (D-MN)
Heath Shuler (D-NC)
Gene Taylor (D-MS)

Now the phony media is accusing Republicans for not being bipartisan. Yeah, bipartisanship means going along with whatever the democRATs demand. They are forgetting that there are millions of people who did not vote for the "affirmative action" candidate and these people do not want to go along with this unqualified affirmative action president. We are not suicidal! This first black president has already put us all in danger with changes he made relating to our national security. Mark my words people: Bush kept us safe for the last eight years. Obama made us vulnerable to future terror attacks within two days of his election. Now he wants to impoverish us by taking our money and wasting on stupid government schemes. Go read this stupid "stimulus" bill folks. Well it is not a stimulus bill; it is a flat out pork bill. The only people who will get stimulated are the government insiders and their connections who will get these grants, contracts and direct deposits. There will be a number of so-called non-profits that are actually democRAT party apparatuses that will get the money to use in their propaganda efforts.

You see folks, your phony media news-entertainment anchors and reporters do not tell you what is in this bill. They just want Republicans to vote for it because our first black president wants it. Let me tell you the first secret: If our first black president was a Republican and he was working to get the congress pass a bill s/he wanted and democrats did not go along with it, your phony media people's reaction would have been exactly the opposite. So the number one SECRET is -- as I have repeatedly said on this blog -- liberal deomocRATs only care about liberal-democRAT minorities and they have no qualms about ripping a conservative minority in the most hateful manner. The only thing that matters to them is the ideology but they will use race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity to shut their opponents by accusing them with bigotry. So do not fall for this first black president crap.

Now on to the secrets of this Obama pork bill: WashingtonWatch.com is running a "Win $100 in Our Economic Stimulus Contest!"

Your goal is to identify spending in the economic stimulus bill that will do a really good job of stimulating the economy, or a really bad job. A $100 prize will go to the best comment identifying good stimulus spending - the spending that will do the most to get the economy on its feet - and another $100 to the best comment identifying bad stimulus spending - spending that will just fall in a hole or even make the U.S. economy worse.

I think they should pay thousands more to the person who can find anything "that will do a really good job of stimulating the economy" in this Obama pork bill.

You can also read the bill here: Read The Stimulus.

Looters are in Charge

January 15th, 2009

Atlas Shrugged (Centennial Ed. HC)

Ayn Rand. Dutton Adult 2005, Hardcover, 1192 pages, $21.32

Books by or about Ayn Rand

One of my posts back in December was titled " Idiots in Charge". I should have titled it " Looters in Charge". Well, I guess, when you think about it... What is the difference? These liberal democRATs who praise each others' supreme intelligence and smartness on the floor of the senate and house are LOOTERS. They also are IDIOTS period!

Atlas Shrugged': From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years

For the uninitiated, the moral of the story is simply this: Politicians invariably respond to crises -- that in most cases they themselves created -- by spawning new government programs, laws and regulations. These, in turn, generate more havoc and poverty, which inspires the politicians to create more programs . . . and the downward spiral repeats itself until the productive sectors of the economy collapse under the collective weight of taxes and other burdens imposed in the name of fairness, equality and do-goodism.

In the book, these relentless wealth redistributionists and their programs are disparaged as "the looters and their laws." Every new act of government futility and stupidity carries with it a benevolent-sounding title. These include the "Anti-Greed Act" to redistribute income (sounds like Charlie Rangel's promises soak-the-rich tax bill) and the "Equalization of Opportunity Act" to prevent people from starting more than one business (to give other people a chance). My personal favorite, the "Anti Dog-Eat-Dog Act," aims to restrict cut-throat competition between firms and thus slow the wave of business bankruptcies. Why didn't Hank Paulson think of that?

Chris Dodd, Charlie Rangel, Barack Hussein Obama, Nancy Pelosi and countless other liberal democRATs are LOOTERS! As in the book, there are quite a few so-called business people who want to take advantage of their relationship with these looters to enrich themselves while destroying "the entrepreneur, the risk taker and the cultivator of wealth through human intellect".

The current economic strategy is right out of "Atlas Shrugged": The more incompetent you are in business, the more handouts the politicians will bestow on you. That's the justification for the $2 trillion of subsidies doled out already to keep afloat distressed insurance companies, banks, Wall Street investment houses, and auto companies -- while standing next in line for their share of the booty are real-estate developers, the steel industry, chemical companies, airlines, ethanol producers, construction firms and even catfish farmers. With each successive bailout to "calm the markets," another trillion of national wealth is subsequently lost. Yet, as "Atlas" grimly foretold, we now treat the incompetent who wreck their companies as victims, while those resourceful business owners who manage to make a profit are portrayed as recipients of illegitimate "windfalls."

Well, on a second thought my post in December was titled properly. I remember reading the following that was attributed to Warren Buffett: "There are three ‘I’s’ in every cycle. The ‘innovator,’ that’s the first ‘I.’ After the innovator comes the ‘imitator.’ And after the imitator in the cycle comes the ‘idiot.’” We are in the cycle when the "idiots" are running the show.

"one pertinent warning resounds throughout the book: When profits and wealth and creativity are denigrated in society, they start to disappear -- leaving everyone the poorer."

Auto Bailout Scam

December 10th, 2008

Leave it to Bob Lutz, GM's voluble vice chairman, to puncture the unreality of the auto bailout he himself has been championing. In an email to Ward's Auto World, he notes an obvious flaw in Congress's rescue plan now taking shape: The fuel-efficient "green" cars GM, Ford and Chrysler profess to be thrilled to be developing at Congress's behest will be unsellable unless gas prices are much higher than today's.

The Bailout That Won't - The WSJ Online Journal

Folks, there is nothing in this so-called auto bailout bill that is going to help save the Detroit-3. It is all about liberal democRATs taking advantage of current financial crisis to take over American Auto Industry. What do you think when the government controlled by liberal democRATs take over, nationalize the auto industry? They will start implementing their ambitious plan to kill internal combustion engine. You see people like Lutz do not understand the liberal democRATs. Liberal democRATs couldn't care about people wanting these cars or not. They want to force us out of our cars into mass-transit for years. They have the power of government to use taxes, fees, rules and regulations to make us drive whatever they want us to drive. They have the power of government to shut the imports.

Liberal democRATs hate cars. In America, cars are the symbol of freedom and individuality. That's why the liberal democRATs want to kill the auto industry. This is not a bailout bill but a DEATH SENTENCE. Shame on all these auto executives for letting this happen. Shame on President Bush if he signs on to this. Leave it to Barack to do it Mr. President!

The Cost of DemocRAT Administrations

October 10th, 2008

Folks, we pay dearly for decades to come when we elect democRATs to the highest office of the country. We pay with our lives, with our life savings, with our way of live when we let democRATs control the executive and the legislative branches.

Clinton administration cost us the September 11 attacks.

Now we learn that the $700 Billion plus we'll be spending to bail out our economy is a direct result of the actions taken by Clinton administration and the democRATs.

Planting Seeds of Disaster - ACORN, Barack Obama, and the Democratic party. By Stanley Kurtz, NRO

Finally, in June of 1995, President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and Secretary Cisneros announced the administration’s comprehensive new strategy for raising home-ownership in America to an all-time high. Representatives from ACORN were guests of honor at the ceremony. In his remarks, Clinton emphasized that: “Out homeownership strategy will not cost the taxpayers one extra cent. It will not require legislation.” Clinton meant that informal partnerships between Fannie and Freddie and groups like ACORN would make mortgages available to customers “who have historically been excluded from homeownership.”

"... will not cost the taxpayers one extra cent."  Isn't this maddening? The drive to make mortgages available to customers "who historically been excluded from homeownership" is costing us not only trillions of dollars in direct tax-payer money used to bail-out financial institutions but in many more billions of dollars in savings that disappear in the resulting market turmoil.

What the hell "historically been excluded from ownership" means? It is just one of the code-words liberal democRATs use to charge us with racism and discrimination. Unless we grow back-bone to tell these liberals who run these fake institutions to bilk tax-payer money out "Go F*** Yourselves!", next time they try to accuse us with racism and discrimination, we'll see more of our money disappear.

Who were these people getting mortgages thanks to Clinton, democRATs, Obama and ACORN?

Calling the Old Media: Five Million Illegals Have Illegal Mortgages in U.S.A.!

HUD says that five million illegal aliens hold illegal mortgages. This is just one more example of the lax lending laws put into place by Democrats like Barney Frank that have contributed to this economic crisis.

Is there anything that makes sense with what democRATs have done here?

We must be insanely suicidal as a nation to elect Barack Hussein Obama and a democRAT congress this coming election.
