Here is a perfect example of a liberal idea in action:

sacbee.com -- California -- Building a better 'lemon law'?

Take an issue, charge it with emotions, blow it out of proportion, get government to regulate and control the market. The end result is that more businesses shut their doors and the very people you supposedly tried to help get hurt the most in the process.

Let's start with the idea of "giving consumers three days to back out of used car purchases". First and foremost question is why can't you leave that to the marketplace? Evidently there are dealerhips offering that option to their customers without the government forcing them to do. If it is something that gives a competitive advantage to a dealership, more of them will start offering it. Simple market dynamics. We are talking about a very competitive marketplace. Why does the government need to involve in it? You see when government gets involved absurd rules like three day cooling off period are created. Why three days? Why not two or seven days? Why not a few hours to have the vehicle checked by an independent mechanic? Why not leave those decisions to the marketplace? Well, you know the tired all answer from those liberals: Big bad businesses make money off poor helpless consumers.

This Assemblywoman also wants to stop dealers from profiting for arranging financing and require them to disclose the actual cost of add-ons. How dare those businesses make money off the services and products they offer to consumers? I'm even surprised that she stopped there. She should require all dealers either sell their vehicles and accessories at cost and arrange financing for free or face being shut down by the State of CA. That does not leave much of an option for these businesses. Maybe that is the ultimate goal for this Assemblywoman: Drive all the dealerships out of business, setup state run car factories and ration cars to Californians through a state run distribution system. That way poor, dumb, ignorant, and helpless - the way liberals see - Californians won't be taken advantage of big bad car manufacturers and dealers. Why stop with car dealers anyway? How dare people make money off milk, baby food, clothing, health care, insurance, etc... Why don't the government take control of all these businesses and produce all the goods and services at fair prices while paying living wages to the state workers? What a wonderful state California could become if only liberal fools had their ways.

Back when Californians recalling the governor Davis, I suggested that they should recall the assembly too. Now you know why.
