I find it remarkable that the mainstream media is so unwilling to talk about this "map". There is such a clear divide in our country that I really think we would do well, as a nation, to talk about it.
And I don't mean just add it to our talking points and say worthless phrases like "I will unite us". I mean really talk about it. A conversation is required here.
We need to address the overwhelming truth that if you live in an urban area, chances are very good that you voted for John Kerry and if you lived in a rural area, you did not. And it's not as if the difference was subtle. The polarization is intense.
We are a nation divided by density, not by geography.
